Entertainment Event Organiser Penalised for Breaching Licensing Conditions

Kuala terengganu:<Text>

A company responsible for organising an entertainment event in Kuala Terengganu has been fined for breaching licensing conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the penalty followed an investigation prompted by a viral video showing inappropriate behavior by attendees at a musical event held in Dataran Shahbandar, which sparked public outrage. The Kuala Terengganu Datuk Bandar, Lizan Che Mat, stated that the action was in accordance with the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 2002. This enactment outlines penalties including fines up to RM10,000, imprisonment for up to three years, or both for non-compliance.

"A compound was issued due to non-compliance with the licensing conditions. The approval of an entertainment license under the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 2002 comes with specific conditions that organisers must strictly adhere to," Lizan explained when contacted.

He f urther reminded all event organisers in Terengganu to strictly follow the guidelines and regulations to maintain public harmony. Emphasising the council's stance, Lizan stated that they would not compromise on event organising conditions, especially those that disrupt public peace.

"Every permit or license approved does not mean organisers are free to run events without control. They are responsible for ensuring that the programme takes place according to the set guidelines," he added. Lizan also noted that the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) supports programmes with positive potential but insists they must operate within legal boundaries.
