Encouraging Turnout for PLKN 3.0 as Volunteers Arrive

Kepala Batas:The National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 has seen an encouraging response, with 10 individuals voluntarily attending the 513th Regiment (Territorial Army) National Service Training Camp (CLKN) despite not previously confirming their participation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Colonel Abdul Rani Abdul Majid, director of the Policy and Development Division at the National Service Training Department (JLKN) headquarters, noted the interest shown by these individuals in joining the programme after learning about it. The camp had previously received confirmations from 211 trainees scheduled to register today, and the 10 additional volunteers further highlighted the programme's appeal.

The training curriculum for PLKN 3.0 consists of 70 percent military modules and 30 percent nation-building modules. Abdul Rani also encouraged parental support for the programme, emphasizing the positive feedback from evaluations conducted with trainees' parents. Participants who complete the programme can earn specific merit points from five key appointing authorities, which include the Public Services Commission and the Armed Forces Council, among others.

Meanwhile, Major General Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar, director-general of JLKN, reported high parental satisfaction with the PLKN 3.0 implementation. The evaluation, conducted with Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), involved 571 respondents and showed positive feedback exceeding 90 percent across six key elements. The effectiveness of the programme received a high score of 97.98 percent.

Marzuki highlighted that the number of trainees confirming attendance for Series 4/2026 surpassed expectations, with 2,009 trainees reporting for duty at eight camps nationwide, exceeding the target of 1,203 trainees. This increase reflects the growing traction of PLKN 3.0 within the community, particularly among parents who see it as a means to develop the character and discipline of the younger generation.
