Kuala lumpur: Eight asnaf (eligible for tithe) families at the Desa Tun Razak People's Housing Project (PPR) here received assistance amounting to RM85,600 under the 2026 Asnaf Home Repair initiative today. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan announced that each house was allocated RM10,700, contributed by the wakalah contributor, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the allocation provided by Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad covers not only funds for home makeovers but also includes contributions in the form of 'bakul rezeki' (food baskets) and cash assistance. The home repair programme, Zulkifli stated, will continue to be implemented by the Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (PPZ-MAIWP), in collaboration with zakat contributors, as part of efforts to bring renewed hope to those in need. He urged corporate and individual zakat contributors to collaborate through welfare programmes that benefit the community.

In addition to housing repair assistance under the programme, MAIWP also provides general aid, including monthly financial assistance of RM500 and house rental assistance of RM124 to asnaf groups.
