Bandar Tun Razak: Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today visited seven families affected by a recent fire in her constituency through the Ziarah Kasih MADANI programme. Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the Prime Minister’s wife, handed over cash contributions from the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office and the Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak Social Welfare Department (JKM), as well as essential supplies from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Wan Azizah expressed her hopes that the contributions would help alleviate the burden on those impacted by the incident. She made these remarks after presenting the aid at the temporary relief centre at Dewan Serbaguna Bandar Tun Razak. Also in attendance were the Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and Kuala Lumpur JKM director Che Samsuzuki Che Noh.
The families affected by the fire were moved to the relief centre after their homes were destroyed in a blaze at Lorong Mewah 3, Bandar Tun Razak on Sunday night. Efforts are underway to provide them with more permanent housing solutions.
Azman stated that steps were being taken to secure housing for the displaced families in newly completed units under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in the Bandar Tun Razak area. He estimated that it would take about one to two weeks to arrange for the DBKL homes, ensuring that the families would not need to stay in the temporary centre for an extended period and that their children could continue attending school.
One of the fire victims, Junainah Ismail, 47, who is employed by the Federal Territories Department of Statistics, expressed her gratitude to Dr Wan Azizah and the involved agencies for their support. She conveyed relief, acknowledging the efforts of those who cared about their situation, and expressed hope for assistance in securing a new home soon.
