Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated the national sepak takraw regu squad for winning the 2026 Sepak Takraw World Cup last night. In a Facebook post today, he highlighted the victory over traditional rivals Thailand in the thrilling final at Stadium Titiwangsa here, which was also driven by the support of more than 3,000 fans during the match.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed appreciation to everyone behind the scenes who contributed to the meaningful achievement. Malaysia emerged as champions of the team regu event after Thailand withdrew from the highly controversial final following a disputed umpiring decision. This result ended Thailand's dominance, which had lasted for the previous three editions of the prestigious tournament.
