Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today warned all quarters against attempting to threaten or undermine the stability of the Unity Government. He emphasized his readiness to return the mandate to the people if such a situation arises, affirming the coalition's strength and principles.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, clarified that while the coalition adopts a prudent and conciliatory approach in political negotiations, it should not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness. Speaking at the PH Convention, Anwar sent a clear message about the coalition's long-standing principles and its commitment to wisdom in political dealings, warning against misinterpretation and betrayal.
The convention was attended by notable figures such as DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, and PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Anwar emphasized the coalition's resilience, built on decades of struggle for principles rather than personal gain or power.
Anwar further reassured that the PH leadership, comprising PKR, Amanah, and DAP, remains unified and resistant to any internal betrayal attempts. He underlined that the MADANI Government has maintained stability and peace over the past three years by listening, making necessary adjustments, and avoiding incitement.
Criticizing certain parties for their apologetic stance and focus on minor issues, Anwar condemned the silence on major corruption involving nation's wealth looters. He firmly stated that his government would not tolerate corruption, especially among elites and high-ranking individuals, and reiterated the commitment to reform and integrity in leadership.
Highlighting the government's economic performance, Anwar urged PH members and supporters to actively defend the country's achievements rather than remain on the defensive. He noted significant accomplishments such as the projected GDP growth of 5.4 percent in the first quarter, historic investment levels, low unemployment and inflation rates, and the highest salary increase for civil servants. Anwar stressed the importance of understanding these figures to focus on the broader progress being achieved under his leadership.
