Digital Perak and SCDB Collaborate on RM7.5 Million STEM and AI Ecosystem

Meru Raya:Digital Perak Corporation Holdings has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Spark Capital Development Bhd (SCDB) to develop a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the strategic investment for this initiative involves financial commitments estimated to reach RM7.5 million over a three-year period. The collaboration will focus on creating a STEM AI Hub at Digital Perak's Innovation and Multimedia Hub located at Mydin Mall, Meru Raya.

The existing makerspace at this hub will undergo a complete upgrade to include FlowLogic6 stations, interactive learning kits, and IoT-based prototyping equipment. Initially, the program will engage 100 teachers through the STEM AI Digital Educator Pilot Programme and a 40-hour Basic TVET-AI Educator Programme. In the future, the hub aims to become a state STEM AI training and certification reference center and will be supported by three satellite hubs across Perak. The goal is to train 1,000 trainers, 300 Technical and Vocational Education and Training-AI instructors, and expose 30,000 students to STEM AI.

This announcement was made by Teh Kok Lim, the Perak Science, Environment, and Green Technology Committee chairman, during a press conference at the Perak State Innovation Convention 2026. The signing ceremony was attended by Digital Perak CEO Mohamad Suhaimi Mohamad Tahir and SCDB COO K. Mohanraj.

Teh emphasized that the project integrates Digital Perak's ecosystem support and spatial provision with SCDB's expertise in learning modules and content. The initiative supports the Perak Sejahtera 2030 aspirations and the state's digital economy agenda by developing local talent to meet the demands of the manufacturing and agriculture sectors, as well as smart city initiatives.

The effort aims to provide not only early exposure to modern technology but also to build a network of educators and students capable of fostering and sustaining the growth of Perak's digital economy.
