Kuala lumpur: End-to-end (E2E) online delivery of government services has achieved an 80 percent milestone as of last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Digital Ministry released a statement today attributing this accomplishment to the National Digital Department's (JDN) continuous monitoring, which ensures efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with established digitalisation standards across all government agencies.
The government aims to provide 95 percent of federal government services online by 2030. Furthermore, there is a target for the complete digitalisation of federal data through a Whole-of-Government approach. This strategic measure is intended to strengthen national digital transformation and enhance service efficiency and quality for the public.
The Digital Ministry also indicated that JDN is preparing the 2026-2030 Public Sector Digitalisation Plan, which is expected to be completed by mid-month. This plan aims to accelerate digitalisation efforts at both state government and local authority levels. It includes upgrading existing systems, promoting new technology adoption, developing digital talent, and enhancing strategic collaboration between agencies to ensure comprehensive and integrated digital transformation for the public sector.
The ministry highlighted the expanded use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the public sector through the AI@Work initiative. As of December last year, 373,346 public servants were actively using AI, resulting in improved productivity and service quality. These efforts will continue this year in line with the government's digital transformation agenda and paperless service initiatives, ensuring AI's contribution to higher performance, productivity, and service standards for the public.
The Digital Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing public sector digitalisation and AI adoption, aligning with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for digital transformation to deliver direct benefits to the public and enhance Malaysia's global competitiveness. In his New Year's address at the monthly Prime Minister's Department assembly, the Prime Minister urged all ministries and government departments to expedite online service delivery as part of bureaucratic reforms, emphasizing immediate implementation to save time, improve service quality, and reduce administrative burdens on the public.
