Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof today extended their well-wishes to the Hindu community celebrating Thaipusam tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid highlighted Malaysia’s rich diversity, with various ethnic groups and religions living harmoniously and respecting differences as a collective strength. He expressed his wishes for a happy Thaipusam to all Hindus across the country and encouraged the continuation of strengthening unity and respect for diversity, which he sees as the foundation of the nation’s harmony. Ahmad Zahid also mentioned that Thaipusam is a significant religious observance for Hindus worldwide, celebrated during the month of ‘Thai’, the tenth month in the Tamil calendar.

Fadillah Yusof echoed similar sentiments, stating that Thaipusam reflects the nation’s spirit of unity in diversity, with citizens respecting each other’s practices, customs, and cultures. He urged gratitude and the protection of the unity achieved for a more harmonious, prosperous, and peaceful Malaysia.

The sentiment of unity was further reinforced by Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who called on the public to strengthen unity and solidarity in the peaceful and prosperous country. He extended his Thaipusam greetings to Hindus in Malaysia in a Facebook post.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan joined in extending his greetings, inviting the Hindu community to embrace the spirit of the celebration with family and friends. He expressed hopes for a joyful celebration in a harmonious atmosphere, emphasising the importance of safety. Ramanan also thanked security personnel, particularly the police, for their efforts in maintaining safety during the celebration. His hope is for continued peace, unity, and stability in Malaysia, striving for a brighter future together.
