Defence Ministry Introduces ‘HITS’ Initiative for Discounted Household Items

Terendak Camp:The Defence Ministry has launched the 'Harga Istimewa, Tentera Sejahtera' (HITS) initiative, offering military personnel and veterans access to discounted essential household items. The program includes 308 items available at reductions of up to 30 percent at 80 Perbadanan Perwira Niaga Malaysia (Pernama) outlets nationwide.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasized that this initiative complements previous efforts to enhance military personnel's well-being in areas like housing, welfare, healthcare, education, skills development, and the economy. The HITS program specifically addresses the cost of daily necessities.

Pernama, a key player in this initiative, will provide goods at prices lower than the general market, as noted by the Defence Minister during the HITS launch at the Pernama outlet in Terendak Camp. Army Chief General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman, Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, and State Senior Executive Councillor Datuk Rais Yasin were also in attendance.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin highlighted the role of Pernama in reinvesting its profits back into the military community by maintaining lower prices. He described Pernama's model as akin to a cooperative, where increased sales lead to greater benefits for military members. To maximize these benefits, he encouraged military personnel to support Pernama outlets.
