DAP Stands Firm On Incumbent Principle For Seat Allocation, Says Loke

Kuala lumpur: DAP remains firm in its stance of defending the principle of contesting seats previously won as the main basis for seat allocation in political cooperation for upcoming elections.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke stated that the incumbent principle remained the party's guiding approach to ensure that cooperation within any political coalition is carried out fairly and transparently. Loke emphasized that seat allocation must be based on this principle, highlighting the party's past sacrifices, such as giving up the Dusun Tua state seat to UMNO in the last state election, as evidence of DAP's sincerity.

He further explained that this sacrifice should be recognized as clear evidence of DAP's commitment to successful political cooperation with its coalition partners. As the Transport Minister, Loke noted that it would be unreasonable for any party to claim that DAP had never cooperated, given the public sacrifice.

Loke, who also serves as Seremban MP, elaborated on DAP's transparent cooperation with UMNO within the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional Unity Government framework. This included efforts to engage party supporters and campaign for UMNO candidates during by-elections as part of their cooperative commitment.

In his speech at the Selangor DAP Convention 2025, Loke denied any internal factions within DAP, stressing that the party operates as a united team under a single leadership. He reiterated that DAP's establishment was not to oppose any party but to promote national progress and benefit all.
