Yong Peng:The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry is set to offer psychosocial support to the family of Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, suspected to have been murdered at a school in Yong Peng, Johor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that the ministry has not yet received a request for assistance from the 16-year-old victim's family. She emphasized that no family member has sought psychosocial support thus far, but the ministry is prepared to provide help if needed.
Nancy Shukri also noted that the ministry is approaching the situation cautiously to avoid disturbing the grieving family. She mentioned that while there have been no formal engagements with the Education Ministry regarding psychological support for students, informal discussions have occurred.
Irene Sofiya was found unconscious and bleeding in the school hall at around 5.50 pm on Saturday, October 3rd. In connection with the incident, police have detained three 16-year-old male students for questioning, with one of them being remanded for six days until October 9th.
