Cop Sustains Injuries After Being Attacked By Man At Mutiara Rini Police Station

Johor bahru: A police officer sustained bruises to his right eye and shoulder, and suffered a swelling on his left leg after being attacked by a man at the Mutiara Rini police station here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP M Kumarasan reported that the suspect, aged 22, threw a motorcycle rim and punched the face of the officer on duty at the complaints counter. The police received information about the incident at around 3.40 pm and apprehended the suspect after a struggle.

Kumarasan explained that the officer sustained injuries including bruises on his right eye and shoulder, along with swelling on his left leg. The suspect, who appeared mentally unstable, has no prior criminal record and has been referred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for further examination and treatment.

A crossbody bag containing a knife and a motorcycle rim was seized from the suspect. The case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code, Section 90 of the Police Act 1967, and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.
