Concertina Wire Installed to Combat Cross-Border Crimes at Malaysia-Thailand Border

Sungai golok: High-security wire, also known as Concertina wire, has been installed around illegal bases along the Malaysia-Thailand border near the Sungai Golok riverbank to curb cross-border crimes. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat announced the completion of phase one of this operation, which covers an area from the Rantau Panjang town to Pos Ibrahim Pencen, spanning 1.5 kilometres.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative involves installing barbed wire at 26 illegal bases that were previously demolished by security agencies. The project received funding of RM100,000 from the Prime Minister's Department's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU JPM). Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat shared these details with reporters during an inspection of the Concertina wire at the Rantau Panjang illegal base.

The inspection was also attended by Southeast Brigade General Operations Force (GOF) Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain and Kelantan National Security Council (MKN) director Datuk Mohd A. Aruwan Ab Aziz. Mohd Yusoff further elaborated that the next phase of the project would be completed in stages, with installation works expected to finish before Ramadan.
