Fuziah salleh: The Menu Rahmah initiative can be expanded to more institutions of higher learning through collaboration among various parties, including universities, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), and food operators.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh emphasized the importance of cooperation from universities, particularly in providing business spaces and setting reasonable rental rates, as crucial factors in ensuring the success of the initiative. She stated that for Menu Rahmah to be made available, universities must cooperate by providing business premises or lowering rental rates, which requires the involvement of the universities' top management.

As a supporting incentive, KPDN offers the Menu Rahmah special discount card to food and beverage operators, enabling them to obtain supplies at lower prices, particularly through the Rahmah sales programme. The Menu Rahmah special discount card, introduced by KPDN in 2023, allows registered Menu Rahmah food and beverage operators to purchase goods at reduced prices at selected supermarkets.

Fuziah added that KPDN will also conduct continuous monitoring of food premises on campuses, ensuring compliance with regulations. Action will be taken under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 against traders found to be making excessive profits.

In efforts to empower students in consumerism, she mentioned that KPDN regularly organizes engagement sessions to raise awareness of consumer rights, thereby strengthening their role as advocates among peers, families, and the wider community. Approximately 150 students from five public and private higher learning institutions participated in the seminar, which was one of the consumer awareness activities facilitated through the Gerakan Pengguna Siswa's (GPS) platform.
