Chinese National Tourist Found Drowned In Semporna

Semporna: A 34-year-old man from China, who was diving in the waters of Pulau Mabul, was discovered drowned yesterday. Semporna police chief, Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, reported that the police received a notification of the incident at 2:36 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the complainant, a diving instructor, along with another instructor, accompanied five divers, including the victim, to a depth of 12 meters in the waters of Mabul Island around 10:50 am. The diving activity concluded at approximately 12:30 pm, at which point all divers, including the victim, returned to the boat and handed over their diving equipment.

After returning the equipment, the victim was observed swimming on the water’s surface near the boat. However, when all divers boarded the boat, the complainant noticed the victim was missing. Upon searching the area, they discovered the victim floating in the water.

Other divers assisted in lifting the victim onto the boat and administered CPR before transporting him to Semporna Hospital. Medical officers at the hospital confirmed the victim’s death upon arrival. The police have classified the case as a sudden death.
