According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Faisal, better known as Mickey, emphasized that the prestigious match would serve as the ideal platform to build momentum and assess the team’s readiness for the demanding season ahead. He expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, noting that they have been training for over two months. Faisal conveyed optimism about the match, stating that regardless of the outcome, the team is committed to giving their best effort.
Faisal also addressed the challenges of a packed schedule this season, which includes both domestic and international competitions. He acknowledged the demanding nature of such a schedule but stressed the importance of stepping out of comfort zones to enhance performance. He highlighted the addition of the Shopee Cup this year as an extra challenge, underscoring the need for players to maintain high readiness levels.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Abd Karim, chairman and team manager of The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC), remarked on the significance of the event, describing it as a symbolic occasion to relive the golden era of Malaysian football. The TSSC will feature matches between veteran teams and main selections from Selangor and Singapore, celebrating a historic rivalry.
The 21st edition of TSSC will see the Selangor Selection aiming to secure yet another victory in the prestigious tournament, having won the cup 10 times since its inception. The Singapore Selection, however, remains a formidable contender with seven wins to their name.
