Kuala Lumpur: The Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage Bill 2025 (CCUS) was tabled for its first reading in Dewan Rakyat today by Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli. He announced that the second reading of the bill is scheduled to take place during this session.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the blue copy distributed in Parliament details the CCUS Bill’s provisions, which cover the capture, transportation, utilisation, and permanent storage of carbon dioxide. These measures are designed to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The bill also aims to foster the development of the carbon capture, utilisation, and storage industry as a new avenue for economic growth. Additionally, it includes related provisions to support this objective.
“This bill will involve the government in additional spending, the amount of which has yet to be determined,” the document states.
