CABINET TO ESTABLISH COMMITTEE FOR MALAYSIA-VIETNAM DEEP-SEA FISHING COLLABORATION

PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet has agreed to establish a committee to explore a cooperative model for deep-sea fishing between Malaysia and Vietnam, as announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. This initiative follows a meeting between Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Vietnam’s To Lam, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, last November.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting between the leaders of Malaysia and Vietnam highlighted a mutual commitment to enhancing collaboration in the fishing and maritime industries. Both countries aim to share expertise and technology to conduct joint operations that will benefit their respective fishing sectors.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized the importance of finding an effective model for cooperation that could serve as a platform for shared technological advancements and operational strategies in deep-sea fishing. He discussed these plans during a press conference following the
ministry’s monthly assembly, which was also attended by the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman.
