Perlis: The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, arrived at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (LTSAH) to participate in the Royal Banquet celebrating the Silver Jubilee of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, at Istana Arau in Perlis.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his delegation landed on a Royal Brunei Boeing 787-8 (BBJ) aircraft at 2:45 pm. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Tengku Syarif Bendahara of Perlis, Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Badaruddin Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail. Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli was also present to greet the Sultan.

Following his arrival, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah inspected a static guard of honour composed of two officers and 26 personnel from the 6th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (6RAMD), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Camp, Jitra. The visit by the Sultan was anticipated from January 28, when the Tengku Syarif Bendahara of Perlis had presented the invitation instrument for the Silver Jubilee celebrations to him at Istana Nurul Iman, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

The main event for the Silver Jubilee, the Royal Banquet, is set for 8 pm and marks the 25th year of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin’s reign as the Raja of Perlis. The celebrations, extending until April next year, include events such as the national-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly 2025 from April 27 to May 2, the opening of the Padang Besar Roundabout by the Raja of Perlis on April 24, and the Royal Arts and Orchestra Performance scheduled for November.
