Kuala lumpur: The Bridgestone ASEAN Amateur Open 2025 has officially wrapped up its thrilling 12-leg season with a climactic Grand Final at the Templer Park Country Club championship course. Champions from each tournament leg gathered to compete, marking the conclusion of one of the most renowned amateur golf series in the region.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event witnessed Ong Pok Wen being crowned Nett Champion, a notable feat following his earlier victory as Nett Champion at the Templer Park qualifying leg on July 11. In the Gross category, Imran Marzuki emerged victorious with a score of 77, maintaining his winning streak from the IOI Palm Villa Golf and Country Resort leg, which was the final stop before the Grand Final.
The competition also featured a Guest category with 90 players, including eight journalists from prominent media outlets such as Bernama, The Star, Utusan Malaysia, NST, Berita Harian, Madani News, and Kosmo Digital. Bernama’s Jaiarajo Letchumanan secured the Hole-In-One Grand Prize, claiming an IROAS brand watch valued at RM3,564. Mohd Hasriq Amiruddin from The Star finished in the fifth position.
Now in its ninth year, the Bridgestone ASEAN Amateur Open continues to grow its influence across the region. Vasudevan Krishnan, managing director of Prestige Golf Sdn Bhd, emphasized the tour’s role in uniting golfers from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, India, and beyond, fostering competition and camaraderie. As the tour approaches its 10th anniversary, efforts are underway to enhance its appeal for the regional golfing community.
Krishnan also expressed gratitude to Tourism Malaysia, the Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Malaysian Golf Association for their support in promoting golf tourism in Malaysia. The event’s finale was graced by notable figures such as Yuichi Wada from Bridgestone Sports Co Ltd and Shin Yongwoo of SOKIO Corporation, alongside sponsors, partners, club representatives, and media members.
