Kuantan:A female student was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend in a house on Jalan Air Putih during the early hours of the morning.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident came to light when Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah stated that the woman's boyfriend made an emergency call at 4.32 am. The police team that arrived at the scene discovered the 19-year-old victim lying on a bed in a rented room on the house's ground floor.
Forensic specialists from Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Kuantan conducted a preliminary examination and found pressure marks on the victim's neck. A 19-year-old man was detained at the scene to assist with the investigation. The incident is believed to have been triggered by a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim.
A seven-day remand order was obtained from the Kuantan Magistrate's Court, effective until October 12, to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, gathering witness statements, and obtaining forensic reports to complete their probe. The police have urged the public to refrain from speculating or disseminating unconfirmed information, as this could jeopardize the investigation. They also appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist with the case.
