Bank Negara Malaysia: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has appointed Madelena Mohamed as its assistant governor, overseeing the new strategy and sustainability sector, effective February 1, 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the central bank announced that the sector will encompass several key areas including the governor’s office, legal department, strategic communications department, and sustainability unit.

Madelena Mohamed commenced her career with BNM in 1993, initially serving in the economics department. Over her 32-year tenure, she has undertaken various leadership roles, such as director of the Islamic finance department, financial surveillance department, prudential financial policy department, and most recently, the sustainability unit.

Madelena is an alumna of the London School of Economics and Political Science where she earned a degree in Economics, specializing in Accounting and Finance. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
