Kota kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) is ready to cooperate and support the formation of a new state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, said BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. He emphasized that this cooperation is aimed at ensuring Sabah continues on a path of stability, prosperity, and sustained development for the benefit of its people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry expressed gratitude to all party machinery from across the country who worked tirelessly throughout the campaign period. He acknowledged the effort, time, and commitment given by party members, which he said reflects the loyalty and spirit of struggle for the party and the people.
BN also conveyed its appreciation to all voters who placed their trust in BN candidates during the 17th Sabah State Election. Zambry stated that the election represents a mature democratic process, and BN accepts the decision made by the people with an open heart and full respect for their voice and mandate.
In the election, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secured 29 of the 73 seats contested. Warisan followed with 25 seats, while Barisan Nasional obtained 6 seats. Independents won 5 seats, United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) captured 3 seats, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) secured 2 seats, and Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), and Pakatan Harapan (PH) each won one seat.
