BN Expresses Gratitude for Najib’s Conditional Pardon Granted by Sultan Ibrahim

Kuala lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) welcomed with deep gratitude the decision by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, to grant a conditional pardon to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, while respecting all conditions and processes set.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir stated that BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the entire Supreme Council leadership, component parties, and 'Friends of BN' expressed their profound gratitude to Sultan Ibrahim for consenting to the decision of the Pardons Board. This decision allows Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

Zambry affirmed that BN would remain steadfast in upholding the principles of constitutional monarchy, parliamentary democracy, and the rule of law, which underpin the nation's peace, stability, and prosperity. He highlighted the decision's significance for Datuk Seri Najib and his family, as well as the entire BN family, who have consistently kept him in their prayers and hoped for smooth proceedings in his matters.

Earlier today, Sultan Ibrahim granted a conditional pardon to Najib, permitting him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, provided he pays a RM50 million fine. The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department announced that this decision was made at the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, held at Istana Negara today.
