Gebeng: Bio Eneco Sdn Bhd's latest biomass processing facility in Gebeng can process up to 20,000 metric tonnes of palm oil waste per month, targeting exports to Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Bio Eneco is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eldridge Energy Holdings Bhd, specializing in the manufacturing and trading of biomass fuel products, particularly palm kernel shells (PKS).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Eldridge Energy executive director and chief executive officer Yeo Hock Cheong stated that the plant's location was strategically chosen for its proximity to the port, which facilitates logistical efficiency, orderly export handling, and consistent large-scale shipments. "Gebeng is the third plant location after Telok Gong and Kapar in Klang, and we will be opening our next plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor, which is expected to begin operations this year," Yeo said. He made these remarks during the official opening ceremony of the plant, which was officiated by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The event was attended by State Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak, Eldridge Energy chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid, and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. Yeo added that the plant, operational since last year, was developed with a focus on quality and disciplined execution.
Eldridge Energy noted in a statement that this development is part of the company's RM68.14 million capital expenditure programme. This programme, outlined in the group's prospectus, aims to establish a network of new biomass processing facilities across Kuantan, Pasir Gudang, and Lahad Datu. "The investment underscores the group's disciplined and strategic deployment of initial public offering proceeds to scale processing capabilities, enhance supply readiness, and support long-term sustainable growth," the company stated.
The Gebeng facility is a crucial component of the group's long-term strategy to create an export-oriented, high-quality biomass platform that aligns with the global energy transition. Designed to produce export-grade PKS, the facility is certified under the internationally recognized Green Gold Label (GGL), highlighting Elridge Energy's dedication to sustainability standards, full supply chain traceability, and robust carbon data integrity from source to end market.
