Bernama Showcases Role in National Unity Week at Batu Kawan Stadium

Batu kawan: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) is participating in the Communications Ministry booth at the national-level Unity Week (SMP) 2025, held at Batu Kawan Stadium grounds, to promote the agency and its services. Organised by the National Unity Ministry, the event provides Bernama with a platform to introduce its role as the national news agency and reinforce its efforts to disseminate verified and trustworthy information to Malaysia’s diverse communities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bernama Corporate Affairs manager Zarina Rozali said besides promoting the Bernama app, her team is also showcasing the agency’s social media platforms as reliable and timely news sources. ‘We provide visitors with information and feedback on Bernama’s products, allowing us to engage the public in a relaxed, interactive setting during this national event,’ she said.

Interactive activities such as quizzes and trivia are among the booth’s highlights, alongside campaigns encouraging the public to follow Bernama’s social media pages and download its app for accurate, real-time news. Zarina said the initiative aligns with the government’s goal of strengthening national unity through the dissemination of inclusive and accurate information.

Visitor Nur Aqilah Ishak, 35, an online entrepreneur, said she learned more about Bernama after visiting the booth. ‘Besides Bernama and other government agency information, I also brought my children to the Rumah Kita (ethnic house) exhibition. It was fascinating to see the many cultures brought together here. I’ve never been to Sabah or Sarawak, so this was an eye-opener,’ she said.

SMP 2025, running from July 17 to 20, features 35 engaging activities. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the opening ceremony at 10.30 am this Saturday. According to the National Unity Ministry, key highlights include the Rumah KAMI ethnic exhibition, Kadazan Dusun and Orang Asli cultural villages, the Malaysia Tanah Airku showcase, a historical timeline exhibition by the Department of Museums Malaysia and the Malaysia Library Pavilion.

Themed ‘Harmony in Diversity’, the celebration serves as a national platform to promote unity among Malaysians of diverse backgrounds through direct community involvement in inclusive activities. The main objective is to bridge cultural gaps, foster mutual respect and instil a strong spirit of togetherness, key pillars of the nation’s strength.
