Kuching: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sarawak Bureau photographer Razali Nordin passed away at the age of 54 at the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) at 1.44 am today. Razali, who hailed from Batu Gajah, Perak, was known as a dedicated and committed person in carrying out his duties throughout his three decades of service at Bernama.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Razali began his career at Bernama headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in 1996 before being transferred to the Sarawak Bureau in 2002. He later moved to the Selangor Bureau in 2004 and returned to the headquarters in 2009, before being reassigned back to the Sarawak Bureau in 2011, where he continued to work until his passing. He was reportedly suffering from several chronic illnesses, including heart, liver, and kidney problems, which led to his deteriorating health since Ramadan this year.
Razali was confined to his home in Taman Sukma, Petra Jaya, until he was admitted to HUS for further treatment. Throughout his service at Bernama, he made significant contributions to the smooth operation of the Sarawak Bureau and was well-liked by his colleagues for his friendly and cooperative demeanor. Razali also received donations through the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA, a welfare initiative for media practitioners under the Ministry of Communications.
Razali leaves behind his wife, Ratnawaty Abdul Hai, and four children. According to Ratnawaty, the remains of her husband will be taken to the Gita Mosque near here for funeral prayers and burial after the autopsy is concluded.
