Kuala lumpur: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) photographer Mohd Syafiq @ Ridzuan Ambak, 31, was awarded the top honor in the Best Tourism Photo category at the Seri Iman Awards (ASI) 2025 ceremony held here tonight. His acclaimed photograph, 'Terengganu Through the Eyes of a Fisherman', earned him a trophy, RM2,000 in cash, and a certificate of appreciation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Syafiq expressed gratitude for the recognition of his work by the award organizers. Previously, he had secured two silver medals for Best Photojournalism and Best Photo Essay at the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2024 on June 20. He remains committed to elevating Bernama's reputation through his artistic contributions in photography. "This award will serve as a source of motivation for me to continue producing artistic works through photography, while further enhancing the name of Bernama," he stated.

The award was presented by Terengganu Tourism, Culture, Environment and Climate Change Committee Deputy Chairman Sulaiman Sulong, with committee Chairman Datuk Razali Idris in attendance. Razali highlighted that 39 awards across 20 categories were distributed during the event to acknowledge the efforts of tourism industry contributors in Terengganu. He mentioned that this recognition aims to inspire industry participants to enhance service quality and develop improved tourism offerings.

Razali further explained that the ASI was formerly known as the Terengganu Tourism and Culture Awards (APKT), last held in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Categories included Best Local Travel Agency, Innovative and Potential Tourism Product, Best Hotel Service, Best Media, and Best Homestay Service. He emphasized the state government's dedication to fortifying the tourism sector and supporting the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) campaign.
