Beijing: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) journalist Siti Zanariah Nor Zin has been selected as Malaysia's sole media representative for the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) 2026 programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme began on Monday and will conclude on August 11. It is being held at the Renmin University of China (RUC), known for its journalism and communication studies. Unlike previous editions, participants in this year's programme are being accommodated on the RUC campus, providing them a unique opportunity to experience life as international students.
Organised by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) under the management of the CIPCC, the initiative gathers 85 media practitioners from countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Maldives, Laos, Pakistan, India, Sudan, Lebanon, Yemen, Turkiye, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Brazil, Serbia, and Russia. CIPCC director Yu Lei highlighted that participants would engage in journalism training, diplomatic programmes, cultural immersion, and official visits both within and outside Beijing. The programme also includes practical training attachments at major Chinese media organisations.
Yu Lei noted that the programme aims to deepen cross-cultural understanding through coverage related to community life, technological advancements, smart city development, and China's traditional cultural heritage. Additionally, the programme seeks to strengthen international media cooperation and enable participants to gain a better understanding of China's current developments and culture.
During the orientation session held at the RUC School of Journalism and Communication, Siti Zanariah had the opportunity to engage with fellow media practitioners representing broadcasting organisations, newspapers, digital media platforms, and news agencies from various countries. Participants were also briefed on the history and achievements of RUC, especially its excellence in journalism and law since its founding in 1950.
