Azizulhasni Awang Wears Smart Glasses to Capture Historic Cycling Moments

Nilai: For national track cycling champion Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, the 2026 National Track Cycling Championship at the National Velodrome here was not just a race in pursuit of success but rather an opportunity to capture some historic moments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the former world champion also acted as a "storyteller" on the track by wearing smart glasses equipped with a camera to record his experience while competing in the men's elite keirin event today.

Apart from recording race moments, Mohd Azizulhasni said he also wanted to capture the memory of the presence of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who graciously spent time watching the championships. "Just now, I tried to capture the race moment, plus we have the presence of the Sultan of Pahang. It's good and an honor for all of us (riders). It's not easy to see His Majesty come to watch a race," he said.

Representing Team Azizul, he said this after winning the silver medal in the men's elite keirin, which was won by Johor rider Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom, while the bronze went to Selangor's Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games men's keirin silver medalist also admitted he was deeply moved by His Majesty's presence at the championship.

"This is a very sweet moment for the cycling camp, not just for the country's elite athletes but for all cyclists. Everyone was very excited to take pictures with Tuanku just now. Tuanku is well-known for being sporting, very humble, and close to the hearts of the people," he said.

The four-day championships which began yesterday ends on Friday.
