Kuala Lumpur:National track cycling star Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang has been included in the 'Olympic Pathway' program by the National Sports Council (NSC) to prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin announced that Azizulhasni is one of the athletes identified for focused attention under this program. The plan involves collaboration with relevant national sports associations to optimize athlete preparation.
Jefri mentioned that the NSC has conducted discussions with these associations to ensure that each sport develops specific programs aimed at preparing athletes for LA28, with the goal of competing and winning medals.
Jefri also congratulated "The Pocket Rocketman" on his recent success, winning gold in the keirin event at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. He highlighted that Malaysia has potential medal contenders in other sports as well, including squash players.
Azizulhasni, at 38, further solidified his reputation by securing gold in the keirin and bronze in the sprint at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, bringing his Asian Games career tally to three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. His achievements enhance Malaysia's prospects for success at the LA28 Olympics.
