Ayer Kuning Polls: Positive Reaction A Shot In The Arm For BN Candidate

Ayer Kuning: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Ayer Kuning state by-election, Dr. Mohamad Yusri Bakir, received a shot in the arm on the second day of campaigning, thanks to the positive reaction of voters in the four areas he visited. He visited voters in Changkat Petai, Tanjong Keramat, Kampung Raya, and Kampung Batu Tiga.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Mohamad Yusri expressed excitement about the reception he received, describing it as providing good vibes for BN. After a walkabout at the Tapah Farmers’ Market, he mentioned plans to help traders increase their income by providing proper infrastructure and continuous support from the government.

Regarding agricultural development, Dr. Mohamad Yusri considered the proposal to develop the constituency into a vegetable hub through the greenhouse concept as a positive step. This initiative aims to enhance the economic status of residents in the Batang Padang district, especially in the Ayer Kuning constituency.

The by-election follows the death of incumbent Ishsam Shahruddin, 58, from a heart attack on February 22. It features a three-way contest involving Mohamad Yusri, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek, and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) candidate Bawani KS.

Abd Muhaimin noted receiving good support, particularly from young voters, and emphasized addressing employment opportunities for youths as a key focus. Bawani, on the other hand, highlighted concerns about job opportunities and high house prices, proposing long-term lease reforms to support farmers and breeders.

Perak police spokesman for the by-election, SAC Zaharudin Rasip, confirmed that two ceramah permits have been issued to contesting parties and no election-related violations have been reported so far.
