Automotive Sector Experiences 31% TIV Growth in February

Kuala Lumpur: The automotive total industry volume (TIV) in Malaysia saw a recovery in February, experiencing a 31 percent increase from the previous month, reaching 63,906 units compared to 48,732 units in January. This information was reported by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the significant growth in TIV is attributed to market stabilization in February following a setback in January. However, when compared to the same month last year, the TIV experienced a two percent decline from 65,017 units recorded in February 2024.

The MAA reported that vehicle production in February this year amounted to 61,545 units, which is a seven percent decrease from the production figures of the same month last year. Of the total vehicles produced, 58,606 were passenger vehicles, while 2,939 were commercial vehicles.

Looking ahead, the MAA anticipates March’s TIV to surpass February’s figures. This expectation is based on March being historically recognized as a high sales month, driven by customer demand for vehicle delivery before the Hari Raya holidays and companies’ efforts to clear stock before the financial year-end on March 31, 2025.
