Melaka: There will be no public holiday in Melaka on August 21, as the date is not listed in the state's 2026 Public Holiday Schedule, and no occasional holiday has been declared.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, state secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh issued a clarification to dispel public confusion over August 21, which has been linked to Melaka's UNESCO World Heritage recognition. He stated that all public services, schooling, and daily activities would continue as usual on this date. The continuation of these activities is subject to the regulations set by the respective authorities, employers, and institutions.

At the same time, Salleh affirmed the state government's commitment to preserving and promoting Melaka's historical, cultural, and heritage assets recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
