Attorney General’s Chambers to Review Evidence in AKPS Director-General Case

Kuala Lumpur:The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) is set to review witness statements, CCTV footage, and other evidence before deciding on any further action regarding an incident involving Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, the director-general of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar confirmed that the AGC had received the investigation papers related to the case, which took place at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on September 28. The AGC will conduct a thorough examination of all evidence to determine the appropriate course of action.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that the investigation papers had been submitted to the AGC for review in line with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution. He added that the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department is conducting the investigation under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which addresses voluntarily causing hurt to another person. As part of the investigation, statements from 25 witnesses have been recorded.

Mohd Shuhaily previously stated that he would leave any decisions regarding potential actions against him to the government, following the circulation of a video showing him reprimanding two individuals at KLIA Terminal 1.
