Asian Games 2026 Concludes in Aichi-Nagoya with Closing Ceremony

Aichi-Nagoya:The 2026 Asian Games concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony in Aichi-Nagoya, marking the end of 16 days of athletic competition. The event was highlighted by the extinguishing of the Asian Games flame at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the closing ceremony commenced with the arrival of dignitaries including Crown Prince Akishino Fumihito, Crown Princess Kiko, and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Joaan Hamad Al Thani. The Japanese flag was raised, accompanied by the national anthem, followed by a performance titled "Hearts Beating as One with Athletes."

Athletes from across Asia participated in a parade, celebrating their achievements and the unity forged through sportsmanship. The ceremony also featured a segment called "Gratitude and Emotion Celebration Heart," which highlighted key moments from the games and honored the efforts of athletes, volunteers, and organizers.

OCA President and Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee President Hideaki Omura delivered a speech before the OCA flag was lowered, officially concluding the games. The ceremony also included a handover to Doha, Qatar, the next host city, with representatives receiving the OCA flag and torch, and a performance introducing Qatari culture.

The closing moments included the "One Asia, One Heart" performance, which brought athletes together in a bon-odori dance, symbolizing unity across Asia.
