Kuala lumpur: ASEAN is unique and stands among the most peaceful regions in the world, a distinction that has enabled the grouping to grow dynamically and attract global investments, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized ASEAN’s ability to uphold centrality while navigating complex geopolitical realities, which reflects the strength of working collectively as a team.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar highlighted ASEAN’s geopolitical stance and its ability to maintain centrality during the opening of the 19th edition of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC). The event saw the presence of ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, and delegates from ASEAN member states.

Anwar, representing Malaysia as ASEAN Chair, emphasized the trust among ASEAN leaders, showcased through frequent exchanges. Moreover, Anwar pointed to the Singapore Economic Zone as a testament to successful bilateral initiatives, underscoring ASEAN’s commitment to shared prosperity. He acknowledged Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s dedication to strengthening both bilateral ties and cooperation within the ASEAN framework.
