Kuala Lumpur: Civil servants who may face traffic congestion due to the upcoming ASEAN Summit are advised to apply for Work From Home (WFH).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Public Service Department (JPA) has highlighted that this advisory aligns with the MADANI Government’s focus on enhancing public welfare and ensuring uninterrupted public service. The WFH policy remains flexible and adheres to existing regulations.
The JPA elaborated that the WFH policy, detailed in the Human Resources Service Circular (MyPPSM), aims to balance agency requirements with employee well-being and work-life balance. A recent statement encouraged eligible civil servants to seek approval from their respective Heads of Department for WFH arrangements.
The statement emphasized that department heads are empowered to approve WFH applications for employees affected by traffic during the ASEAN Summit and associated events throughout the month. This initiative is part of the MADANI Government’s commitment to resilient and compassionate governance, reflecting values such as well-being, kindness, and efficiency in public service.
Nevertheless, the WFH implementation must adhere to guidelines and conditions specified in MyPPSM. The 2025 ASEAN Summit is set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on May 26 and 27. As the ASEAN Chair, Malaysia will host the 46th Summit, anticipated to attract around 20,000 participants, including heads of state, delegates, and officials from member countries and dialogue partners such as China and the Gulf countries.
