Hanoi:Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has called for enhanced cooperation among ASEAN law enforcement agencies to effectively tackle transnational crime and ensure that fugitives do not evade justice. This appeal was made during a courtesy visit by heads of ASEAN delegations and the ASEAN Secretariat at the Government Headquarters.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian delegation was led by Home Ministry (KDN) deputy secretary-general (Security) Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman. During the visit, Prime Minister Le emphasized that the success of the ASEAN Law Enforcement High-Level Conference on Cooperation in Combating Fugitive Criminals would significantly contribute to the peace, security, and resilience of the region.
Following the conference, the Malaysian delegation attended a gala dinner hosted by Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, marking the official closing of the event. Vietnam's Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang, delivered a speech at this gathering.
KDN highlighted that Malaysia's participation in the conference underscores its ongoing commitment to strengthening ties and cooperation with ASEAN partners in the fight against transnational crime.
