Argentina Launches Citizenship by Investment Program

Paris:Argentina has introduced a new Citizenship by Investment Program, with applications anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 as part of the country's strategy to enhance its international economic presence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the program was unveiled by Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Chief of Cabinet Diego Santilli during Argentina Week in Paris. It offers two investment options: a non-refundable contribution of US$350,000 to the National Treasury or an US$800,000 investment in a government bond specifically created for this initiative.

The Argentine Government highlighted that this program is part of broader efforts to internationalize the economy, including reforms to improve the investment climate and attract foreign capital. The initiative aims to strengthen Argentina's position in the global competition for mobile capital, entrepreneurs, and talent.

Dr. Juerg Steffen, CEO of Henley and Partners, stated that this initiative offers a new connection for Argentina with international investors, business owners, and entrepreneurial talent. Henley and Partners have collaborated with the Argentine Government through workshops and discussions on this emerging framework.

Philippe Amarante, Managing Partner and Head of Government Advisory at Henley and Partners, emphasized that the citizenship program should be seen as part of Argentina's broader investment strategy, highlighting the country's strengths in sectors like energy, critical minerals, food production, technology, and human capital. He noted that aligning residence and citizenship policies with economic goals, supported by strong governance and transparency, could aid national objectives.

The Argentine Government assured that the program will adhere to financial transparency and risk-management standards in line with OECD and FATF recommendations. Applicants will undergo checks on identity, source of funds, criminal background, reputation, and immigration history.

This announcement coincides with a rising interest in multi-jurisdictional residence and citizenship planning. Henley and Partners reported working with clients from over 100 nationalities across more than 40 residence and citizenship programs, as internationally mobile families increasingly diversify their residence rights, citizenships, investments, and business interests globally.
