Kuala Lampur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that he will not rush into making a decision regarding DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke's offer to resign as Transport Minister. Anwar emphasized the importance of hearing Loke's explanation before proceeding.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke offered his resignation following a DAP Central Executive Committee meeting. This was in response to the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Despite Loke's offer, other DAP ministers and deputy ministers will continue to serve in the government.

Anwar urged DAP not to succumb to calls from political entities aiming to destabilize the Unity Government. He condemned the pressure as tactics to weaken the government, asserting that Loke had done nothing wrong and had opposed the pardon.

The Prime Minister expressed that Loke's offer should not be seen as a critique of the MADANI Government or DAP's role in the Unity Government. He acknowledged Loke's decision as rooted in strong anti-corruption values, aligning with his own.

The conditional pardon allowed Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, contingent upon a RM50 million fine.
