Anwar To Meet Nvidia’s Jensen Huang On AI Development Project In Malaysia

Gyeongju: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to meet Nvidia president and CEO Jensen Huang to discuss artificial intelligence (AI) development in Malaysia on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), which kicks off today. Huang, anticipated to arrive in Gyeongju this morning, will meet Anwar alongside YTL Power International Bhd managing director Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong. They are expected to update the prime minister on the progress of the RM10 billion AI infrastructure project in Malaysia, signed by both companies in July.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, earlier in the morning, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will welcome all the APEC economic leaders, including Anwar, followed by a photo session. The prime minister is scheduled to deliver Malaysia’s intervention during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Dialogue with Guests event. He will focus on the importance of inclusiveness in strengthening supply chains, digital economic development, and regional cooperation for sustainable development.

After lunch, Anwar will meet with the US APEC Business Coalition, followed by separate one-on-one meetings with Namhae Chemical Corp and JS Link. Namhae Chemical, a major fertiliser manufacturer, produces over 50 per cent of Korean agricultural fertilisers. JS Link is a genome-based biotechnology company, focusing on genome analysis services in South Korea and globally.

Anwar will then attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ dinner before wrapping up the day with an exit press conference. Malaysia is among the 12 founding members of APEC, alongside Australia, Brunei, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Currently, APEC comprises 21 economies and is home to close to three billion people, accounting for 62 per cent of the world’s GDP and 48 per cent of world trade in 2021.
