Ipoh: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today participated in the Pongal celebrations with the Hindu community in Tanjung Rambutan, Ipoh, Perak, during his working visit to Tambun.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared in a Facebook post that he emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in Malaysia and addressing issues with prudence. He stated, "I conveyed that this country must continue to remain peaceful and uphold the sovereignty of the rule of law, and that all issues require prudent handling, not by continuously fuelling disputes."
The Prime Minister also addressed the government's approach to resolving the issue of illegally constructed places of worship. He remarked, "As with many other legacy issues that the MADANI Government has resolved, the issue of places of worship built illegally will also be resolved courageously, wisely and conclusively without compromising the peace that has long been established."
Pongal, celebrated by the Tamil community, is a harvest and thanksgiving festival to express gratitude for the abundance of agricultural produce.
