Anwar Ibrahim Meets Mesut Ozil and Bilal Erdogan in Istanbul

Istanbul: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from former international footballer Mesut Ozil and Necmeddin Bilal Erdogan, son of the Turkish President, during the final day of his official visit to Turkiye.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting took place at a hotel where Anwar and his guests discussed a range of issues, including concerns of the Muslim community and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Anwar mentioned that the conversation included a light-hearted moment about his grandchild, a passionate Arsenal supporter, which brought smiles during the meeting.

Anwar extended an invitation to Mesut Ozil to visit Malaysia, encouraging him to share his experiences in football, leadership, and humanitarian efforts, as well as to discuss the role of youth in advocating for justice and global solidarity. Ozil is currently active with Turkiye's AK Party and remains committed to various humanitarian initiatives.

Necmeddin Bilal Erdogan joined the discussions later. Anwar's official visit to Turkiye, which began last Tuesday at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkiye.
