Anwar Ibrahim Deliberates on Filling Cabinet Vacancies

Perak: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized that he will not hastily fill the four vacant positions in his Cabinet. He expressed the need for thorough discussions with party leaders within the MADANI Government before reaching a decision, although he has already identified several potential candidates.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister has yet to engage in discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and leaders of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) regarding the matter. Anwar stated, “I’m thinking about it. I don’t rush, and of course, I need to reflect after listening. I have not discussed with all party leaders yet. Of course, the final decision is my prerogative.”

Anwar shared these insights with reporters following the launch of his latest book, “Rethinking Ourselves: Justice, Reform and Ignorance in Postnormal Times,” at Tsutaya Books, Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

When questioned on whether his actions would entail a Cabinet reshuffle or merely filling the vacant posts, Anwar clarified that “filling the gaps” would indeed lead to a minor reshuffle. Responding to the Malaysian Chinese Association’s (MCA) suggestion to drop Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek from the Cabinet, Anwar acknowledged the party’s perspective but indicated that it was simply their opinion.

The current vacancies in the Cabinet are within the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, and Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
