Anwar Ibrahim Calls for Greater Role of Professionals in Malaysia’s Development

Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of professionals in driving Malaysia's development through enhanced productivity and governance at the Professional Conference and Exhibition 2026 (PROFEX 2026) and Malaysia Professional Day.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that the nation's progress relies not only on economic growth but also on a robust professional workforce. He urged professionals to enhance productivity and governance and collaborate closely with policymakers, political leaders, and civil servants to advance as a unified team.

Anwar, also serving as Finance Minister, called on professionals to combat corruption and abuse of power. He underscored the growing importance of expertise and specialization in the context of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and digital transformation, while cautioning against excessive focus on individual fields without interdisciplinary collaboration.

He praised Malaysia's professional community for its diverse strengths and urged the integration of these strengths to build a more resilient nation. Anwar stressed that professionalism should be rooted in integrity, justice, and societal responsibility, beyond mere technical prowess.

Additionally, Anwar announced the annual observance of Malaysia Professional Day on September 29. This initiative aims to enhance cooperation among professional bodies and support the country's transformation and future.
