Anwar Expresses Disappointment Over Political Attacks Amid Development Efforts in Kedah

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today voiced his disappointment regarding the persistent political attacks from Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, despite the Federal Government's ongoing efforts to enhance development in Kedah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman labeled the attacks as unwarranted, emphasizing his consistent efforts to advance Kedah's development agenda for the benefit of its residents. Anwar highlighted an incident where Sanusi criticized him while in Johor, yet did not attend an event in Kedah where Anwar facilitated a meeting with Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at Bukit Kayu Hitam to inaugurate a new road alignment aimed at boosting the border economy.

Anwar reinforced his commitment to not sideline any state, including those governed by opposition parties, asserting his responsibility to serve all Malaysians. He made it clear that despite PAS governing Kedah, his focus remains on fulfilling his duty to aid the people of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister's comments follow media reports quoting Muhammad Sanusi as mocking Anwar, accusing him of acting as if every state relied on the Federal Government since assuming power. Anwar, alongside the Thai Prime Minister, inaugurated a new road alignment connecting Bukit Kayu Hitam's ICQS Complex with Thailand's Sadao CIQ Complex, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional connectivity.

In another development, Anwar disclosed plans to increase the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) assistance, contingent on the Federal Government's stability and continued support for PH. He attributed the possibility of increased assistance to prudent financial management by the government.

Anwar's participation in the PH Grand Finale programme for the Layang-Layang state constituency was part of a series of events in Johor aimed at rallying support for PH candidates ahead of the upcoming Johor state election.
