Kuala Lampur:A roundtable discussion with industry leaders from 21 leading Chinese companies focused on high-impact sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and robotics as Malaysia seeks high-value strategic investments, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussion also explored the potential of electric vehicles, battery materials, advanced optics, biotechnology, healthcare, specialty chemicals, and advanced manufacturing.

Anwar highlighted that he heard directly from industry players about their plans and aspirations, along with the opportunities they see in Malaysia and the steps needed to realize these investments. He emphasized that the MADANI Government will continue to support quality investments that facilitate technology transfer, develop local talent, strengthen the participation of Malaysian companies, and create more quality job opportunities.

As Finance Minister, Anwar noted that Malaysia has a robust foundation to continue evolving as a high-value investment and manufacturing hub, with support from a mature industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce, strategic location, and strong supply chain networks.

The discussion was also attended by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook. China has maintained its position as Malaysia's largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, with bilateral trade reaching US$113.82 billion from January to August this year.

Anwar is currently on a three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou, having arrived on Tuesday.
