Anutin Extends Support to Anwar for Johor State Election

Kuala lumpur: Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today extended his best wishes to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ahead of the upcoming Johor state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anutin conveyed his message of support during a joint press conference with Anwar, coinciding with his official visit to Malaysia. "I wish you the best of luck for your upcoming election in Johor," Anutin remarked at the conclusion of the conference.

The 16th Johor state election, set for polling this Saturday, has drawn the participation of 172 candidates competing for 56 seats. Anwar's coalition, Pakatan Harapan (PH), is contesting in all 56 constituencies, featuring candidates from PKR, DAP, and Amanah, representing both seasoned politicians and fresh faces.

During the meeting, Anwar described his interaction with Anutin as warm and productive, akin to a gathering of close friends. He encouraged Anutin to visit again, highlighting the comfort and ease experienced during their discussions.

Anutin's visit to Malaysia marks his first since his reappointment in March 2026, undertaken at Anwar's invitation. The visit seeks to bolster bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the neighboring countries.
